The recently elected (August, 2011) stewardship/leadership team consists of 6 members including the Minister of the Chinese Congregation. It oversees the day to day running of the church, organization of activities, as well as drawing up long-term objectives for the development of the Chinese section of the church. Members of the Leadership Team are elected once every two years during an annual meeting and whenever vacancies occur. The leadership team meets about once a month. Individual leaders also sit in various committees of Epsom Methodist Church as representatives of the Chinese Congregation.

The Leadership Team consists of members of the young and older age group reflecting the age composition of the congregation.

Annual meeting of the whole congregation is held twice a year during which the Leadership Team gives a report about the church (Chinese section) to members and the congregation. The latter can raise questions, make comments and suggestions on any matter concerning the Congregation. This will be acted upon by the Leadership Team so that improvements may be made.

Minister, Chinese Congregations

Responsible for worship

My vision of a leader for the Chinese congregation is to assist Rev K K Yap to fulfil the potential in reaching out to the Chinese Community and bringing many to Christ.

I am learning Mandarin so that I can communicate with some Chinese who only speak Mandarin.  The 'Faith & Worship' course will equip me to practice and to share the work of ministry.  I am keenly interested and participate in pastoral care.

I have 'tasted' the experience of God's grace. Now I want to serve Him as a response. I hope that in serving I could learn how to serve even better. I put much importance in interpersonal relationship. My priority is therefore to promote the relationship between God and people, including myself, and that between individuals, hoping to narrow the distance of human from God.

Do you ask this in your life?

- How often do I find myself in raptures? How often do I weep?
- Why am I happy?  Why am I in pain?

Does one go through life just like this?

I know of a God; however brilliant a life you have, or in great sorrow, He will walk with you at all times.  It is entirely because of Jesus; He has made my life beautiful, turning it from emptiness to a life of legacy. However strong I may become, like the powerful mid-day sun, or gradually slipping into a stage of senescence, it is God whom I can trust throughout my life.

When looking back on my past years; it is because of Him that my life has become wonderful and abundant.

Assisting in outreach and caring

It is my great honour to serve as a secretary to CCEMC - a church that I attended since early 2007. I give thanks to God for giving me this opportunity to serve my brothers and sisters in Epsom and work alongside with other church co-workers. Together we serve and build our own church for Christ followers in One Heart One Voice under our almighty God's guidance.
