Sunday Service Programmes and Sermons

Today's message from the Pastor

¡@

¡@ Our Sunday worship begins at 2 O'clock in the afternoon. It usually lasts till 3:30 pm. We start with the singing of choruses of praise prior to the main part of the worship. The service is conducted in both Cantonese and Mandarin in the main. Chinese and English are translated instantly and simultaneously via a wireless headphone system so that those who listen to it may sit anywhere within the worship area.

Children have their own Children Worship and Sunday School.

Youths also have their Youth Sunday School commencing from 12:15 till 1:30 pm. They will have time for lunch before joining the main worship.

We have also a church choir which plays an active and vital role in the worship. On every first Sunday of a month, which coincides with the Holy Communion, there will be singing by the choir. For this, the choir members work very hard ever week after the Sunday service to practise singing. After the service, the congregation is welcome to some refreshments and participate in fellowship with one another or stay for a social chat. If it is the first time you have come to our church we welcome you to leave your contact details so that we may keep in contact.

Since October 2011 we have provided choir training for children twice every month,¡]2nd and 4th Sunday of a month) at 2:00 pm. If you have children at home, why not bring them along.

From February 2012 there has been a Chinese English-speaking  service on every second and fourth Sunday, known as International Service. It takes place concurrently with the existing Chinese-conducted service at 3:00 pm. This is the result of wide consultation within the congregation concerning whether English-speaking Chinese may find it more beneficial to use the language familiar to them in a spiritual sense. As it were, it is still very much an experiment and is subject to change and modification.

Today's Message from the Pastor

Thanks to God. Today we celebrate Father's day. It was said in the States that Mrs. D. Brookes' mother passed away early and she was brought up by her father alone who was responsible for bringing up all the children. To thank her Dad for her upbringing she wrote to Missionary Association to suggest that the third Sunday of June be designated as Father's day. Hence, form June, 1910 people have begun to celebrate Father's day.

In the bible, Father represents God. In a Christian family children's concept about God is through what they see in their fathers. Not all men are necessarily fathers, but all men are sons.

The bible does not only teach the father, but the son too. As a father, one must have gone through the stage of a son. For example, " Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth. And, you fathers, do not make your children angry: but give them training in the teaching and fear of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:1-4)

One should discipline children according to the Lord's will and His way, in order to build them up. Fathers have the responsibility to set good example to their children, with the "Lord's teaching" as a standard.

What the father does in the family is unlike the world. He is not mindful of things on earth, but that of the Lord's, loving and serving Him. Religious education begins from the home. Amen.

The Lord's servant
