Today's Message from the Pastor
Thanks to God. Today we celebrate Father's day. It was said in
the States that Mrs. D. Brookes' mother passed away early and
she was brought up by her father alone who was responsible for
bringing up all the children. To thank her Dad for her
upbringing she wrote to Missionary Association to suggest that
the third Sunday of June be designated as Father's day. Hence,
form June, 1910 people have begun to celebrate Father's day.
In the bible, Father represents God. In a Christian family
children's concept about God is through what they see in their
fathers. Not all men are necessarily fathers, but all men are
sons.
The bible does not only teach the father, but the son too. As a
father, one must have gone through the stage of a son. For
example, " Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is
right. Honour your father and mother; which is the first
commandment with promise; That it may be well with you, and you
may live long on the earth. And, you fathers, do not make your
children angry: but give them training in the teaching and fear
of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:1-4)
One should discipline children according to the Lord's will and
His way, in order to build them up. Fathers have the
responsibility to set good example to their children, with the
"Lord's teaching" as a standard.
What the father does in the family is unlike the world. He is
not mindful of things on earth, but that of the Lord's, loving
and serving Him. Religious education begins from the home. Amen.
The Lord's
servant
